At Newcastle Benfield Juniors, we believe football should be open to every child, regardless of their circumstances.
That belief is shared by the Harvey McWilliams Foundation, a charity created in memory of Harvey McWilliams and inspired by his love of football, his generosity and his belief that football should be for everyone.
The Foundation helps children and young adults access the boots, kits, training clothing and other equipment they need to take part in the game. Its work removes some of the financial barriers that can prevent young people from playing, while encouraging families, clubs and communities to reuse good-quality football equipment rather than allowing it to go to waste. The Foundation has already supported thousands of people across the North East, including players and teams with a wide range of needs and backgrounds

Newcastle Benfield Juniors and the Harvey McWilliams Foundation are closely aligned by a simple ambition: to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy football.
Together, we want to create an inclusive and supportive scheme through which our players, parents, coaches, volunteers and local residents can help other members of the football community. Whether someone needs support, has equipment to donate or would like to give their time, there will be a way for everyone to get involved.
The partnership also builds on the Foundation’s existing support for Newcastle Benfield Juniors, including its sponsorship of a Benfield Juniors girls’ team
Families and supporters will be able to donate items that are clean, safe and still in good condition in the donation bins which are dotted around the club, including:
Donated items will be collected, checked, cleaned and prepared so that they can be passed on to children and young people who need them.
This gives football equipment a new life, reduces unnecessary waste and helps make participation more affordable for local families.
We understand that asking for help is not always easy. Families who need boots, kit or other equipment will be able to contact the club discreetly via their coach.
Every request will be treated with care, dignity and respect.
There will also be opportunities to support collections, help at community events, clean and organise donated equipment, raise funds or simply spread the word.
Every donation, every volunteer and every shared message can help another person step onto the pitch.
Football has the power to bring people together, build friendships and improve physical and mental wellbeing. No child should have to miss out simply because they do not have the right boots or kit.
By working with the Harvey McWilliams Foundation, Newcastle Benfield Juniors is proud to help carry forward Harvey’s belief that football belongs to everyone.
Donate what you can. Ask for help when you need it. Volunteer your time. Spread the word.
Together, we can give more children and young people the opportunity to play, belong and enjoy the beautiful game.
